Plumbing Skills Training Program

Jamil Khan Welfare Organization implemented a three-month plumbing skills training program for 17 deserving students at the Jamil Khan Skill Development Center, located in Barri Barri Topi Bagh, Azad Kashmir. The program was designed to address the lack of accessible technical education for individuals from financially disadvantaged backgrounds and to enable them to earn a sustainable livelihood.

The training program focused primarily on hands-on, practical learning rather than theoretical instruction alone. Students were introduced to fundamental plumbing concepts and were repeatedly engaged in practical activities related to domestic plumbing, pipe fitting, water supply systems, leakage detection, repair techniques, and basic installation work. The objective was to ensure that participants could independently perform essential plumbing tasks by the end of the course.

Throughout the three-month training period, students received supervised instruction in a structured and controlled learning environment. Regular practice sessions were conducted to develop technical skills, discipline, and confidence in handling plumbing tools and materials. Special emphasis was placed on workplace safety standards and responsible work practices.

Upon successful completion of the training, all 17 students were provided with complete plumbing tool kits. This step was taken to remove a common barrier faced by newly trained individuals who are unable to begin work due to the lack of essential tools. The provision of tool kits ensured that the acquired skills could be applied immediately in practical work settings.

In addition to internal training, the students were assessed through a formal examination process conducted under AJK TEVTA. After successfully passing the examination, the students were awarded official certification, confirming that their skills met recognized technical standards. This certification enhanced their credibility and increased their opportunities for employment or self-employment.

This initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to sustainable skill development rather than short-term assistance. By combining structured training, practical exposure, tool support, and recognized certification, the program aimed to create long-term income opportunities and promote self-reliance among the participants.
